Don’t be distracted by
The loudest talkers.

Volume does not equate
To confidence or honesty;
Merely bravado.

Hear past all the noise.
An earnest dignity
Awaits questioning.

Saturday Haiku: Friends of/are Friends

“Group Hug” by Taurus Burns

Jason attended parties
at which he did not know
the guest of honor.

Other people would
invite him as “plus one”–
make him feel welcome.

Jason never felt
the invite was correct…
…Then the host welcomed him.

Jason felt brand new.
He lost himself in good.
There was no mistake.

Be nice to all guests.
Some say, “Strangers are friends
you haven’t met yet.”

Bill Finds Fate (A Work In Progress – Suggestions Welcome)

Since puberty, Bill knew one girl was his destiny,
but each first date made him more uncertain.
What if he missed his opportunity?

On the other hand…

He dreamed of buying a condominium.
One on a high floor,
overlooking Lake Michigan.

At first he feared the future,
moving forward without a mate,
but he didn’t want one unmet wish to kill another.

Bill hired an agent on the double.
Her advice was on point, and her salesmanship…impeccable.
Of course, that’s the moment he fell in love.

Life is filled with decisions;
Ones that must be made wisely.
Don’t go it alone.

Learn others’ mistakes.
Those who’ve loved and fought,
lied, and cheated…teach.

No act is all new.
Don’t mistakenly think
the past holds nothing.

Love Takes Time

Laura and Vinny were rival lawyers
On opposite sides of a big lawsuit.
Vinny was defending a matchmaker,
Eveline, who believed in a “three date” rule.
“True love is not always instant,” she said.
All couples sign a contract to that affect.
Keeping it enforced is another story.
Everyone has notions of whom they will love.
Some forget the power of healthy disagreements.
This statement made Vinny look at Laura.
It was hard not to admire her presence.
Many arguments could be had with her.
Each one would be a pleasure in the future.

Haikus: The Journey

It’s a struggle, but
When you take on a challenge,
You feel good later.

Some stories take more.
One must trust in the journey,
And proclaim one’s dreams!

*****

Caterpillars must
fear becoming butterflies–
growing up so fast.

They are too young to
understand the benefit
of beautiful wings.

They just see others
Entering cocoons, and then
Fluttering away.
