Welcome! I, Alex Schattner, have decided to challenge myself. Within recent years, many YA books have been published with stories based on Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Without commenting on the quality of these stories, I find it interesting that more authors haven’t been writing new fairy or tall tales. By this I mean, short stories of a magical nature that can be used as a moral compass for our times, and source material for the future. Hans Christian Andersen only wrote his stories two hundred years ago. Before that, there was no great story about a little mermaid, or a king without clothes. Oscar Wilde’s “The Happy Prince and Other Tales” (1888), and Frank L. Baum’s “American Fairy Tales” (1901), soon followed. I hope to continue in this grand tradition. We’ll see what happens.
The Rules I’m setting for myself:
- Every day, I will give myself 2 hours every day to complete a story.
- If a story is not completed within that time, I will post the story as is, and then take 15 minutes the following day to see if I can wrap the story up.
Where YOU come in:
All stories will be available to you for non-profit inspiration purposes. They are protected under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License. Feel free to use these stories as a jumping off point for art, videos, poetry, fashion, etc. as long as you do not use the works for monetary gain. All monetary projects must receive my written consent.
I hope you will let me know when you complete any project so I can post a story or link. Don’t doubt your projects quality or craftsmanship. I will be proud no matter what.
I am also open to hearing about/from other authors who have created similar stories.
Sincerely,
Alex Schattner
